Rafael Nadal.
In 2017, Marozsan turned pro but spent four years mostly competing at the ITF Futures level. The Hungarian player was successful at this level, winning five titles between 2017 and 2022. Marozsan started to play more Challenger level competitions in 2022.
He showed no signs of nerves with the step up and won the Banja Luka Challenger in August 2022. As a result, Marozsan finished 2022 inside the ATP’s Top 200. 2023 was a breakthrough season for the Hungarian player and he started the campaign with his second Challenge title. At the Antalya Challenger, Marozsan beat
Sebastian Ofner in the final.
Marozsan kept progressing and made his
ATP debut at the 2023
Italian Open and beat
Carlos Alcaraz en route to the fourth round. However, the Hungarian lost at this stage to
Borna Coric. In June, more success came in Challenger events as Marozsan defeated Edoardo Lavagno at the Perugia Challenger.
Marozsan then made his Grand Slam debut at the 2023
Wimbledon and lost in the first round. He performed better at the
US Open, beating
Richard Gasquet in round one for his first major victory. Marozsan ended a stellar 2023 season strongly with a quarter-final run at the
Shanghai Masters, during which he beat
Alex de Minaur and
Casper Ruud before losing to
Hubert Hurkacz.
Another late-season quarter-final appearance came at the 2023
Sofia Open. The Hungarian player carried his form into 2024 and made the
Australian Open third round. More deep runs at Masters events followed. On his
Indian Wells debut, Marozsan progressed to round four. He then reached a second Masters quarter-final at the
Miami Open, eventually losing to
Alexander Zverev.
