The 2025 Dubai Championships will be one of two ATP 500 tournaments during the week starting on February 24th. The prize money for the tournament has been unveiled.
Ugo Humbert won last year's tournament in Dubai. He defeated the mercurial Alexander Bublik in the final to triumph at the event, which has been won in the past by some of the most significant figures in tennis history.
Roger Federer won the tournament an incredible eight times during his illustrious career. Novak Djokovic, who is likely to retain Andy Murray as his coach until at least the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Daniil Medvedev, and Andy Roddick are other former champions.
Arguably, this year's Dubai Championships entry list is not as strong as some previous years. It is undoubtedly less notable than the Qatar Open, which has Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner on its list.
However, great players like Medvedev, who recently split with Gilles Simon, Alex de Minaur, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Jack Draper, are among the players set to feature at the 2025 iteration of the Dubai Championships.
There are considerable financial incentives on offer for those who will step onto the court at the Dubai Championships. The ATP 500 tournament has offered enough prize money to motivate anyone on the entry list who needs it, with a total of $3,415,700 to be shared.
The 2025 Dubai Championships winner will receive $605,530 and 500 ranking points. Humbert is also on the entry list again this year and will do everything he can to defend his title from last year.
Finishing as the 2025 Dubai Championships runner-up will earn someone $355,780 and 330 ranking points. Tsitsipas was the runner-up at the tournament in 2019 and 2020 but has never been the champion at the ATP 500 event.
Medvedev, the 2023 champion in Dubai, and Andrey Rublev were last year's losing semifinalists. In a few weeks, whichever men replicate that achievement will receive 200 ranking points and $173,620.
The prize money reduces from six figures to five figures from the quarterfinal stage. Exiting at that stage of the 2025 Dubai Championships will lead to players receiving 100 ranking points and $88,700.
Financial incentives on offer are still decent for losing in the round of 16. The eight men who fall in the second round of the main draw will have $47,350 added to their bank accounts and get 50 ranking points.
No ranking points are given to players who lose in the opening round of ATP 500 tournaments like the Dubai Championships, but they are still guaranteed $25,250 just for reaching the main draw.
Although the absence of Sinner, Alcaraz, and Djokovic from the 2025 Dubai Championships is a shame, it also means the draw could be more open. Picking a winner from those on the entry list is challenging.
Medvedev would have undoubtedly been the favorite a few years ago but has endured a challenging start to the season, generating several outbursts from him. That included furiously blasting an umpire after receiving a time violation at the Rotterdam Open.
