Carlos Alcaraz revealed that he overcame an injury after a fall to secure the 2022 Barcelona Open title.

In a recent interview, the young tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz revealed the challenges he faced during his remarkable victory in the 2022 Barcelona Open. Alcaraz shared that just before warming up for the semifinal match, he suffered a nasty fall down the stairs, leaving him uncertain about his ability to compete.

Despite the setback, Alcaraz could not finish his warm-up on the court, and he initially doubted if he could even play the semifinal match. The difficulties were made even worse by the fact that he had to play two matches on the final day to win the title, but he still managed to do that.

"I was about to warm up before the semifinal on Sunday, it was suspended, you know the semifinal on Saturday. Yeah, I was going down the stairs and fell down from the stairs a little bit."
"I couldn't warm up. I couldn't finish the warm-up on court and it was a tough moment for me because I thought that I was not able to play the semifinal and to get through that, it was tough for me."

The youngster credited adrenaline for helping him push through the pain during his matches, explaining that the focus on the game allowed him to forget about the injury temporarily. He also expressed gratitude towards his doctor and physio, who provided essential support to alleviate his discomfort.

"No, because of the adrenaline, when you are playing, you forget everything and you are focused on playing. Of course, with my doctor and physio, they did some stuff to help me not feel the pain. Now, I am really really careful when I am on the stairs."

In a joking way, the Spaniard admitted that since the incident, he has taken extra precautions when using stairs, a small but significant change in his daily routine.
