Amazingly, Denis Shapovalov became the only player who had advanced at least as far as the third round in the last six US Opens.
The Canadian made his debut in the tennis world a few years ago with a few notable victories at a relatively young age. He was consistently praised as having great talent and being a player who may one day hold the top spot in the global rankings, but things just never worked out for him in the past.
He has achieved high rankings, participated in some incredible tournaments, and made deep runs in grand slams, but he never learned to be consistent.
In contrast to the consistency argument, we have a statistic that, upon further reflection, is very astounding. He is essentially the only player to have participated in the third round of each of the previous six US Open tournaments. It's not Djokovic, Nadal, or Zverev or any of the other big names but rather Denis Shapovalov.
It simply demonstrates his potential and what he might become if everything came together for him.
