Laslo Djere will remember this match for quite a while because the Serbian was honestly the better player for the vast majority of this match but ended up losing to Medvedev 3-6 4-6 3-6.

The Russian did not play his best tennis but he was quite persistent in his ways and eventually with a lot of luck it worked. Djere came into this match with a clear plan of what to do and for the most part, it worked. He put a lot of pressure on Medvedev but every time he needed to get it done he failed. Some of those points were quite unbelievable.

In the first set, he took an early 2-0 lead but gave it back right away. He then gave his serve away once more as Medvedev took a 4-2 lead. Djere had multiple chances to break back but he didn't and the Russian won the opener with 6-3. The 2nd set was quite similar. The players traded early breaks in the 2nd and settled into a nice rhythm after that.

Djere lost his serve once more towards the end of the set as Medvedev won it with 4-6. The players once again traded early breaks in the final set with the score being 1-1 after the opening two games. Djere did everything right in the match by attacking Medvedev but every time he needed to finish a rally or convert a break point he committed a terrible mistake.

Overall it was a very good match from Medvedev who broke Djere three times overall in the final set to finished off with 6-3.
