Carlos Alcaraz had a physical transformation last offseason turning himself into an athletic monster which did him good this year.

Even when his tennis wasn't at the desired level, he was still able to win close matches against a number of opponents due to his physicals, but this time the emphasis will be slightly different. His coach said that while they will work on some fundamental physical skills, tennis will be the main focus.

“Until mid-December we will do strength, cardiovascular, injury prevention work with eccentric exercises and then strength and power. After the Abu Dhabi exhibition, the leading role will be tennis and explosiveness," explained his coach.

“The physical change will not be like a year and a half ago when he went from boy to man," added his coach as he explained that Alcaraz regularly tracks his weight and pays attention to what he eats in order to stay in peak condition.

The dedication is paying off because by the time the Australian Open rolls around, Alcaraz will already be number one longer than Daniil Medvedev.
