The men's tennis organization has provided a rare and brief update on the situation a year after confirming they had opened an investigation into claims that Alexander Zverev had engaged in domestic abuse.

The German's ex-girlfriend accused him of abuse in 2020 but the official investigation was started one year later by the ATP. ATP CEO Calvelli said in October of 2021:

"The allegations raised against Alexander Zverev are serious and we have a responsibility to address them. We hope our investigation will allow us to establish the facts and determine appropriate follow-up action."

In the past 12 months, there haven't been many developments, and when questioned, the ATP has only confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing. And exactly a year later, they have provided Insidethegames with the same update, stating:

"The third-party investigation is still ongoing. Following the conclusion of the investigation, ATP will release more details."

In two interviews with tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg, Sharypova charged Zverev with abusing her emotionally and physically during their relationship. The first appeared in late 2020 on the Racquet magazine online, and the second did so in August 2021 on Slate, but Zverev's attorneys were able to win an emergency injunction from a German court ordering Slate to take down the story.
