After losing to Sebastian Korda in the 2022 Gijon Open quarterfinals, Andy Murray changed his plans and withdrew from the 2022 European Open in Antwerp.

Back in 2019, the Scot won his first and only title after coming back from an injury that prevents him from being on top of his game again. Then, Andy Murray defeated Stan Wawrinka in three sets in the European Open final and until now, it's his only post-injury title.

After competing in Gijon, former world number 1 was supposed to move to Belgium as he was drawn against Jaume Munar in Antwerp. However, Murray withdrew from the event in an attempt to prepare for the ATP 500 event in Basel and ATP 1000 event in Paris.

According to iNews, one of their sources said: "Andy will pace himself between now and end of season, but the plan is still Basel and Paris.”

Murray's goal is still to be seeded at Grand Slam tournaments and he will have try to improve his chances by playing well in Basel and Paris. Next major is the 2023 Australian Open, where he played five finals, but never won.
