Carlos Alcaraz hasn't won Roland Garros so far in his career, but his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, believes that he will do it at least once.
The Spanish coach won Roland Garros himself in 2003 when he was 23. He was also number one that year, which his protege had already achieved, but so far, Ferrero is leading Alcaraz in French Open trophies.
The young Spaniard is only 21, though, so he has a chance to beat his coach in terms of becoming a younger French Open champion. He's one of the favorites this year, even though his recent injury struggles have put his fitness into question.
Still, a healthy Alcaraz will never be unfavoured at Roland Garros because he's that good and grew up on clay. His coach certainly believes that he has the level to win the event, even though Ferrero assesses it as not his best surface.
"Right now I think that the surface that best suits his tennis is the hard court. Carlos has developed on this type of court, although we cannot believe that clay courts were where he was born. I think he will win Roland Garros at least once, he has the game to achieve it."— Ferrero on Alcaraz winning Roland Garros in the future <br>
Alcaraz has the potential to be a multi-Roland Garros winner, for sure, but first, he needs to start with number one. He certainly has everything that it takes to win the Parisian major several times, but Ferrero is taking a pragmatic approach, shielding him from the tremendous pressure he has to face.
After all, Alcaraz puts a lot of pressure on himself with statements like he wants to be the best ever, so he certainly doesn't need more of it. Entering the draw with the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, he's still one of the top favourites.
