The 2023 Rio Open in Rio de Janeiro, is one of a few clay-court tournaments played in February as it runs from February 20-26.

Moreover, it's the only non-ATP 250 event until the Monte-Carlo Masters, which is played in April. The Rio Open is an ATP 500 event and the entry list is almost identical to the Argentina Open played in Buenos Aires only one week before players move to Brazil.

The youngest world no. 1 in the history of men's tennis, Carlos Alcaraz will be the top-seeded player in Rio de Janeiro. He will be also the defending champion, but not the only former champion in the draw.

Dominic Thiem, who won the event in 2017, and Diego Schwartzman, the 2018 champion, and Laslo Djere, winner of the 2019 edition, will also compete at the 2023 Rio Open.

They will be joined by likes of Cameron Norrie, Lorenzo Musetti and Francisco Cerundolo. The event will feature also home players, as three Brazilians were awarded a wild-card. Mateus Alves, Joao Fonseca, and Thomaz Bellucci will all play at this ATP 500 event in Brazil.
