Alexander Zverev and Elena Rybakina led The Hawks to a narrow victory over The Kites in the opening match of their tie at the 2022 World Tennis League in Dubai.

The duo defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime and Sania Mirza in a closely contested match, winning 7-5, 3-6, and 10-5. It was already the second win for the German, as he previously stunned Novak Djokovic in a men's singles match.

The match was a closely contested affair from the outset, with both teams battling hard for the win. Zverev and Rybakina got off to a strong start, winning the first set 7-5. However, Auger-Aliassime and Mirza fought back in the second set, winning it 6-3 to level the match.

The decisive third set was a closely contested tiebreak, with both teams battling hard for the win. In the end, it was Zverev and Rybakina who came out on top, winning the set 10-5 to give their team a 12-11 lead in the tie.

The win was a crucial one for The Hawks, as it gave them the edge over The Kites after the first match. In the upcoming women's singles, world no. 1 Iga Swiatek will play against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and then, Dominic Thiem will face off against Felix Auger-Aliassime.
