Emma Raducanu had to undergo multiple surgeries to overcome her injury struggles and now, she's set to miss a large portion of the WTA calendar.
Fighting with injuries is never fun and the young Brit knows a lot about it. She has been struggling with some injuries almost every month since her 2021 US Open triumph and now, she's hoping to turn her luck around as she has decided to undergo a total of three surgeries.
Two of those should take care of her wrists on both hands, while the third one should take care of an ankle problem. But due to so many surgeries, Raducanu will need to spend quite a lot of time away from tennis and she will miss some important tournaments.
In 2023, she played only 10 matches so far, winning five and losing also five. The next event where Raducanu appeared on the entry list was the 2023 Italian Open in Rome, where she had a chance to add some points after she was forced to retire in her first match against Bianca Andreescu last year.
The Brit will miss this unique chance to add some points but that won't be the only one. Last year, she also reached only the second round at the Roland Garros and that would have been another good chance for her to add some points, but she will miss also that event.
Then, another retirement followed for Raducanu in Nottingham, and it would be expected that the Brit would sign up for at least one of the British grass-court tournaments, either in Birmingham, Nottingham, or Eastbourne.
She will miss all of those and also the biggest event for British tennis players, the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. After that players have a number of choices where to compete as there are both clay and hard court tournaments on offer, and fans will await when Raducanu returns to the tennis courts.
One of the tournaments that she will surely want to play is the US Open, but right now, it's very hard to predict how successful is she going to be in her recovery. It's also possible that the Brit will miss the rest of the 2023 season, but that's surely no fan wants and we also with Emma Raducanu all the best on her journey to regaining top fitness again.
