Tsitsipas Backs 'Determined' Badosa To Compete At Wimbledon Amid Injury Worries

Paula Badosa's status for Wimbledon is uncertain but her boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas backed her to play at the event.

Both of them are in London and both of them have practised at the event together. The participation of Stefanos Tsitsipas is not in question as the Greek player is expected to do well despite some shaky prep events.

The status of Paula Badosa is far more uncertain as she provided an update on social media earlier this month. The Spanish player disclosed that she's working really hard in order to return because she's missed competing and she's been spotted on the courts often lately.

Slowly getting better and stating to do some workouts. Having everyday treatment for hours and trying my best to try to get to Wimbledon on minimum conditions. I’m really missing it a lot, luckily having the best people around me -- that helps me.

Badosa's last match came at the Rome Masters on May 17th so she's been out for more than a month now. The return will likely be shaky though she proved herself capable on grass in the past. Whether she truly makes it back in time for this year's Wimbledon remains to be seen but Tsitsipas is hopeful of that.

He commented on Badosa per AS admitting that he wouldn't be surprised if she plays at the event. Many fans took it as a confirmation that she'll be back but Tsitsipas ultimately said that it's a question she's best capable of answering.

It is a question for Paula. But if she had to say something, she has a lot of determination. She won't surprise me if she plays.

She's still in the entry list and draw so it's likely that she will try and give it a go but a late withdrawal woudln't really surprise anyone. Time will tell.
