After not having a good end of the season on WTA Tour, Clara Tauson elected to play a W80 event in Poitiers and it was going well for her until semifinals.

Last year, the 19-years-old teenager won her first two WTA title and climbed to the 33rd place of the WTA Rankings. However, in 2022, she struggled with injuries as she played only two matches from April until July.

After ending the season with three two-set losses, Clara Tauson enrolled for W80 event in Poitiers where she defeated Cristina Bucsa, Anastasia Tikhonova and Jodie Burrage before taking on 16-years-old Petra Marcinko in the semifinals.

After winning the first set 6-3, the Dane lost 1-6 in the second and retired when she was 1-2 down in the third. Her retirement came after she was unhappy with calls from umpires and according to a footage, a few were really unfair to her.
