World No. 1 Iga Swiatek reveals her intentions to attend university after retiring from tennis, highlighting her love for learning and personal growth.

The name Iga Swiatek has become synonymous with excellence on the WTA Tour. The 21-year-old Pole has climbed her way to the top, securing the World No. 1 ranking and winning three Grand Slam titles over the course of a past few years.

However, it seems that her ambitions extend far beyond the court. Swiatek recently expressed her desire to enroll in a university after hanging up her racquet, demonstrating her insatiable thirst for knowledge and personal development.

Swiatek's plans were revealed during an interview with Prakash Amritraj on the Tennis Channel, following her third-round victory at the 2023 Madrid Open. The top seed had just delivered an impressive performance, defeating 28th-seeded American Bernarda Pera 6-3, 6-2.

When asked about her penchant for learning and reading, Swiatek responded candidly, sharing that her love for education was a significant part of her life. She explained that although her priority was tennis, she missed the mental stimulation provided by school and hoped to continue her studies once her tennis career came to a close.

"I really like to learn, so I'm kind of still used to school, you know? I finished 2 years ago and miss just having some stimulation that way. But on the other hand, I know I can't do much because my priority is tennis & my career so. I'm pretty sure that maybe after I finish, I will go to some university."

Swiatek's remarks offer a refreshing perspective in the world of professional sports, where athletes often focus solely on their careers. By openly discussing her educational aspirations, the Polish tennis prodigy has shown that she is not only a remarkable athlete but also a well-rounded individual.

"I'm just curious about the world. And I sometimes have to stop being curious because I need to focus on tennis. And I'm trying to kind of still have that curiosity, maybe not during the matches & tournaments, but when I have time off."
