Iga Swiatek, Elina Svitolina, and Agnieszka Radwanska will all show their support for Ukraine by participating in a charity event.
Svitolina is currently away from professional tennis after announcing she was pregnant with her first child. However, that has not stopped her from speaking out about her country's war with Russia, which started in February after Russia's illegal invasion.
The former Wimbledon semifinalist has spoken about how heartbroken she is about the situation, as well as being firm in her belief that Russian athletes should be banned to make a statement to the Russian government.
Swiatek's support for Ukraine has been clear from the start of the war. The Pole wears ribbons on her hat in the color of the Ukrainian flag to show her solidarity with her fellow Eastern European country.
Former Wimbledon finalist Radwanska retired from the sport in 2012. Although she may not have the consistent platform that Swiatek has, she still tries to show her support for Ukraine when possible.
Swiatek and her team have organized an exhibition match at the TAURON Arena Krakow in aid of Ukraine. Svitolina revealed on Instagram she will umpire a mixed doubles match involving Swiatek and Radwanska.
"Only several days until the exhibition match in TAURON Arena Krakow organised by Iga Swiatek and her team. Iga has invited me to umpire a match of mixed doubles between Iga, Agnieszka Radwanska, Sergiy Stakhovksy and Martyn Pawelski. There is also one set of singles between Iga and Agnieszka ahead of us."
Svitolina's pregnancy means she cannot participate in any matches. However, Swiatek's inclusion of Svitolina by giving her the role of the umpire was very thoughtful and a great gesture.
Hopefully, it is a great event that raises significant funds for Ukraine. Swiatek's presence alone is likely to make it a considerable success.
