Since her retirement, Ashleigh Barty was often seen on the golf course and it seems that she has no intentions of returning back to the tennis court.
Ashleigh Barty is still undefeated in the 2022 season as she won all 11 matches she played and that record will never change as the 26-years-old Australian doesn't plan to return back to the professional tennis. Many would like to see her back, especially since Iga Swiatek emerged as a new star on the WTA Tour, but in a recent interview to The Guardian, she confirmed once again that she doesn't regret her decision.
“I didn’t watch this year’s Wimbledon finals. Sorry to disappoint. Obviously I was wrapped for Ons and Elena, who are both brilliant girls. And it was obviously awesome to see Nick, who I’ve known for over a dozen years, get to the final."— Ashleigh Barty
“But since retiring I’ve probably watched as many matches as I did when I was playing, which was slim to none. Occasionally we’ll have it on as background noise but it’s very seldom that I’ll sit down and watch a match from start to end with any interest. I hit enough tennis balls in my life. I don’t need to see others hitting them as well.”— Ashleigh Barty
Many wonder if the three-time Grand Slam champion wouldn't be happier if she could add a few more major titles to her name, but Barty knows she made a good choice and seems to be very happy about it.
“I’ve no regrets about retiring. Not one. I knew it was the right time for me. It was what I wanted to do. And I know that a lot of people may still not understand it. But I hope they respect that in the sense that it was my decision. And yeah, it’s been incredible. It’s been everything that I’ve ever wanted.”— Ashleigh Barty
