Ashleigh Barty's 2022 Australian Open final victory was an iconic moment for Australian tennis, and she has decided to put that achievement to good use by donating her racket from the final to a fundraiser.

The 26-year-old's run to glory in Melbourne in 2022 was incredible. Barty did not lose a set during the tournament. Her 6-3, 7-6 triumph over Danielle Collins in the final was the closest she came to dropping a set.

The quality of tennis that Barty was producing meant the tennis world was stunned by her decision to retire earlier this year. She was also the world No. 1 at the time of her decision.

However, Barty explained that she did not have the motivation to compete anymore. She seems comfortable with her decision, which is essential, meaning tennis fans should respect that.

Despite her early retirement, Barty's achievements on the court will never be forgotten. That is why the Australian's donation of the racket she won her third and final Grand Slam with is significant news, and it is also for an excellent cause.

Barty donated the racket to the Mick Fanning Charity Golf Tournament. Celebrities, corporations, and donors from all walks of life will compete on an 18-hole golf course to raise donations for people affected by the tragic Northern Rivers floods.

Currently, the highest bid by an anonymous bidder is $19,000. However, it is still possible to bid for two more days, meaning the price could still go up a lot more. It would not be surprising if that ended up occurring.

Barty has been charitable throughout her life so far, and this is another example. It is great when sports stars use their names to do something positive, like raise money for those who have suffered. This is a testament to Barty's superb character.
