Serena Willaims involuntarily became part of a bit of drama when she was name-dropped in an interview for Vanity Fair.
Meghan Markle, a member of the British Royal Family by virtue of marriage gave an interview for Vanity Fair where she discussed a plethora of topics. Markle is a retired actress who married Prince Harry of the British Royal Family becoming a senior member for a while. After serving for a while she stepped down as a senior member together with her husband moving to Los Angeles together.
In the interview Markle named Serena Williams as one of her friends indicating that they are pretty close but that was interesting to Sam Kashner who was doing the interview. In an effort to fact-check that, he reached out to Williams who bluntly denied any friendship explaining that they were merely acquaintances.
Kashner added that Serena added 'You’ve got to be who you are, Meghan. You can’t hide.' as a sort of remark to her including Williams as a friend of hers. Not a great look for the Dutchess who is now publicly caught in a lie that is a very harmless one to be fair.
