Emma Raducanu struggled to stay fit for the whole of 2023, but she had a healthy bank account and reported profits of over $10 million through her own company in the past year.

The British tennis star only played in a handful of matches last season—ten, to be precise—and was forced to shut down her campaign in mid-April because of injuries while competing at the WTA 500 event in Stuttgart. She only earned slightly over $200,000 in prize money.

Raducanu underwent triple surgery—two on her wrist and one on the ankle. It didn't take her long to start light workouts before embarking on a long and arduous rehab to get herself ready for the 2024 season.

Initially, Raducanu was expecting to make herself available in autumn to compete in tournaments in Asia. But that plan was scrapped off. The 21-year-old was heedful about the prospect of causing further damage to her body by rushing her comeback.

She spent the second half of last year practicing and building her fitness. Raducanu also had time to visit her mother's hometown in Shenyang, China. She was quite busy touring the world, honoring her sponsors' work.

The 2021 US Open champion is a global brand ambassador for major companies like British Airways and HSBC in the United Kingdom. Her glamorous lifestyle has also earned her endorsement deals with Dior and Tiffany.

Despite her paltry on-court earnings, Raducanu made a fortune away from tennis thanks to her sponsorships. According to accounts registered at Companies House in the UK, Raducanu's company, Harbour 6 Ltd, of which she is the sole registered director, made £9.6 million in profit in 2023 (an estimated $11.8 million).

The former World No. 10 ranked fourth in Forbes' list of the highest-paid female athletes last year behind Iga Swiatek, Eileen Gu, and Coco Gauff, underlining her strong marketing pull. She earned $15.2 million in total earnings.
