While the tennis world is watching the 2023 Roland Garros, Maria Sharapova attended the 2023 F1 Monaco Grand Prix.

A champion's eye recognises another and so it's not a surprise that Sharapova found herself intertwined with the adrenaline-rush world of Formula 1, presenting Red Bull's Max Verstappen with the Pirelli Pole Position award at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Now retired Sharapova is enjoying life away from the tennis courts and WTA Tour, as she celebrated the birth of her son last year, but also enjoys various events such as the Formula 1 races.

Accompanied by her fiancé Alexander Gilkes, the couple's passion for motorsport was evident during the qualifying session for the 2023 F1 Monaco Grand Prix, the seventh round of the F1 World Championship.

The tennis icon, having previously made her presence felt at the Miami Grand Prix and the F1 Accelerate Summit, proved to be a lucky charm for Red Bull’s championship leader Max Verstappen.

Verstappen showcased an exceptional performance, securing his maiden pole position in Monaco. His lap time of 1:11.365 was enough to secure the first spot for Sunday's race.

Maria Sharapova was at the heart of this electrifying spectacle, tasked with the responsibility of presenting the Dutch speedster with the Pirelli Pole Position award, an accolade given to the driver that finishes the qualifying first.

Sharapova, stylishly dressed in a dazzling yellow pantsuit, also shared snippets of her exhilarating day on social media. Her posts offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the thrilling world of F1, merging her status as a tennis icon with her growing passion for motorsports.

It's not the first time that we saw Sharapova on a racing circuit, and it's also not the first time that former tennis players enjoyed a Grand Prix. Only recently, the Williams sisters met with Roger Federer at the 2023 F1 Miami Grand Prix.
