Petra Kvitova has seen a lot of tennis in her life and she thinks that Carlos Alcaraz will be following in the footsteps of some legends.

WTA legend Petra Kvitova herself has had a very interesting season so far. The Czech player is now a veteran and not really considered the first favourite at most events. She surprisingly beat one of the best players of this year Elena Rybakina to win the trophy in Miami.

She then followed that up with a trophy in Berlin recently beating Donna Vekic in the final. The clay season was rather poor due to some injury worries but that's behind her now. In an exclusive talk with Flashscore, Kvitova admitted that she's enjoying being back on the grass.

I'm enjoying the grass, I'm glad it's here and I'm back on it. I'm definitely healthier than I was before the clay part of the season. It was very difficult for me because I couldn't train properly and I played two matches in Madrid and at the French Open without any preparation.

Kvitova was supposed to appear in Eastbourne this week but she pulled out due to fatigue after her trophy run in Berlin. There are no injury concerns so her Wimbledon participation is not in jeopardy. Despite the good run on grass, she's keeping the expectations low for the Grand Slam.

I don't have any, I'm going to play my best and hope my health holds out. Last year I finished in the third round, when the first rounds are always the hardest... I just want to be there as long as possible, it's my favourite tournament, so I'm going to enjoy it.

Kvitova on Wimbledon expectations

While she's still an active player, Kvitova is a keen follower of tennis as well. She watches the sport as often as she can and she is very impressed with Carlos Alcaraz and what he's been able to do so far. She can see him following in the footsteps of legends like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

We've heard those comparisons before mostly from former players or current ones indicating that the Spaniard has respect from all across the sport. His achievements so far certainly speak volumes even without these endorsements.

I watch, I like Alcaraz a lot. He's playing great tennis, the way he moves, the things he returns. And in what a way! It's something beautiful, he can serve, he can volley... The game he's showing is really great and I'm glad someone like that is going to follow in the footsteps of Federer and Nadal. That's important for the whole of tennis.
