Iga Swiatek is now the third-best-earning woman in the history of tennis after winning the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.
Already before this year's grass-court Grand Slam, Swiatek was among the best-earning women ever. Obviously, no one has ever earned more than Serena Williams, who has accumulated a total of $94,816,730 in her legendary tennis career.
But behind the legendary American, there is a huge fight for the No. 2 spot. Venus Williams currently holds that with $42,648,578 earned thanks to her performances on the tennis courts. Before this year's Wimbledon, Simona Halep was third with $40,236,618 and Maria Sharapova fourth with $38,777,962; these two players can't add to their totals anymore, as they are retired.
Victoria Azarenka has earned $38,532,860 over her career, and she keeps adding to that number every week. Petra Kvitova can still earn more than the $37,454,150 she has earned up to this point, even though she plans to retire this year. Caroline Wozniacki, on the other hand, will have to settle for $36,441,868 as her final career earnings.
Before Wimbledon, Swiatek was behind all these women, having won $36,372,498 on the tennis courts. But two weeks in Wimbledon, and the Polish player's win meant that she increased her total by £3,000,000, which is more than $4 million.
Thanks to that, Swiatek has now earned a total of $40,523,198, which makes her the third-best-earning woman in the history of the sport. It's expected that she will soon overtake also second Venus Williams and reach the second spot.
Of course, it needs to be mentioned that this achievement was possible thanks to the inflation and the increased prize money in tennis. Still, Swiatek reaching the third place in all-time earnings at 24 is an incredible achievement.
Winning Wimbledon at 24 was a similarly impressive achievement, and it's something that Swiatek enjoyed. During her post-match press conference, she expressed pride in herself for winning the title.
"I’m just proud of myself because, yeah, who would have expected that? I feel like tennis keeps surprising me, and I keep surprising myself. I think tennis is a mental sport, but also you need everything to win tournaments. Like good tennis, good physicality, being also not tired, have good matches before so you don’t spend too much time on the court, having great focus."
"When I watched other players playing, I could see the difference in the level. Finals sometimes are a bit ugly because there’s so much stress and everything. I kind of used the experience from before."
Swiatek also discussed how her Wimbledon win compares to the other Grand Slams she has won. The Polish player admitted that since her triumph was a little bit unexpected, it made it a little more special.
"For sure, it feels like the emotions are bigger because on Roland Garros I know I can play well, and I know I can show it every year. Here, I wasn’t sure of that. I also needed to prove that to myself."
"This one and the US Open for sure feel better because no one expected that. It wasn’t a relief. It was more of just good tennis and working to make it happen, yeah, without this baggage on your shoulders."
Swiatek will now certainly enjoy a few weeks of rest before competing again. Her next tournament should be the Canadian Open in Montreal, where she has never managed to win a trophy. If she ends the wait, she would become the first Polish woman to win in Canada since Agnieszka Radwanska in 2014.
