Rafael Nadal ended his incredible Grand Slam streak at the 2022 Wimbledon as the Spaniard was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury.

After Novak Djokovic was only 1 match away from completing a Calendar Slam last year, Rafael Nadal was attempting to repeat what his Serbian rival did. The Spaniard was already 19-0 at Grand Slam tournaments this year as he triumphed in Australia and also added his 14th Roland Garros title.

However, he got stopped by an injury and the dream of completing a Calendar Slam disappeared. After his withdrawal, Djokovic triumphed in the All England Club, winning his 21st Grand Slam title and closing up to Nadal who currently has 22. If the Spaniard wants to be competitive at the 2022 US Open, he will need to be physically fit and that is the biggest question now.

Last week, Nadal was seen partying and enjoying time with his friends and family. Then, he even took part at a golf tournament and it would seem that he's physically 100% fit. Yet, this season showed that that is not the case.

Currently, it seems that Nadal will compete at the ATP 1000 event in Montreal and his performance there should indicate if he's ready to play at the 2022 US Open. The tournament director confirmed that when he stated:

"Nadal really wants to come to Montreal and his hotel rooms are already booked. He was sent a crate of balls to use during the tournament to prepare. He is expected to return to training on Monday."
