Raducanu slammed by fans after showing support to Kyrgios after Wimbledon quarterfinals

Emma Raducanu has found herself in the middle of a sandstorm after publicly showing her support for the mercurial Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios.

Kyrgios is having an eventful tournament at Wimbledon this year. He reached the semifinal of a grand Slam in singles for the first time with a fantastic straight-sets win over Chile's Cristian Garin.

It has also been confirmed that Rafael Nadal will not compete in their scheduled semifinal because of an injury he sustained in his quarterfinal against Taylor Fritz. Kyrgios, therefore, will get a walkover into the final at the Championships.

Kyrgios received two fines at this tournament for his on-court behavior in matches against Paul Jubb and Stefanos Tsitsipas, and the tournament organizers warned him about his attire after he defeated Brandon Nakashima in five sets in the last 16.

And despite accusations of assault against his ex-girlfriend less than 24 hours after Kyrgios beat Garin, it didn't stop Raducanu from tweeting her support of Kyrgios with the initials "NK" and magic hand emoji.

In the wake of the recent allegations in which Kyrgios will have to appear in a court of law to contest the charge, Raducanu's fans quickly doubted were confused and furious at the same time, judging by their comments on Twitter where the 2021 US Open champion has over 600,000 followers.

"really Emma?"

"I mean, guuuuurl, it's not too late to delete this tweet."

"Are you serious rn?"

However, some of the fans had a different perspective as one of the comments stated. Kyrgios has not been convicted and the British sensation probably wanted to show her support for him in this way.

"I’m one of the evidently small minority that’s not condemning Emma’s support of Nick. I’ve been able to separate Nick the extraordinary player from the demons that sadly hold him back. And nearly everyone in this thread needs reminding that he’s innocent until proven guilty."
