A lot of former and current players have spoken out against the way matches are scheduled at the Australian and the PTPA has joined the effort.

Andy Murray and Thanasi Kokkinakis were forced to play out their match which ended after 04:00 local time. There were several reasons for that with different solutions possible for different things. Some argue that the night session should feature only one match instead of two.

Some argue that there needs to be a cut-off point for matches which go on for a long time. The PTPA joined in the efforts for action by releasing a statement on social media.

The PTPA is committed to advocating for and contributing to the best vision and structure of tennis globally, as indicated in our official principles. That vision and structure starts with match and tournament scheduling.

PTPA on late matches

Having players compete past 4 am local time, totalling nearly six hours, hurts the players, fans, event staff, and all involved. We look forward to exploring alternate means to scheduling that put fans and players and their wellbeing first.
