Novak Djokovic will start his 2023 season also on the doubles court as he signed up for the 2023 Adelaide International 1.

This news comes as a surprise to many fans, as Djokovic is primarily known for his skills in singles play. However, the former world number one has shown a knack for doubles in the past, most recently at the 2022 Laver Cup where he and Matteo Berrettini defeated Alex de Minaur and Jack Sock in a highly entertaining match.

In Adelaide, the 21-time Grand Slam champion will be competing alongside Vasek Pospisil. The Serbian and Pospisil have a long-standing friendship, with Djokovic even attending the 2022 Davis Cup Finals to support Pospisil and the rest of the Canadian team.

The two have never played doubles together professionally, but it's clear that their chemistry on and off the court will make for an exciting partnership. However, they met on the doubles court twice already. In 2010, Pospisil and his compatriot Milos Raonic defeated Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in Toronto. Five years later, Pospisil teamed up with Jack Sock to defeat Novak and his brother Djordje in Beijing.

Many are curious to see how Djokovic will fare in doubles play, as it requires a different level of strategy and teamwork compared to singles. The addition of the Serbian to the doubles draw at the 2023 Adelaide International 1 is sure to bring a level of excitement and intrigue to the tournament.

Fans can't wait to see how he and Pospisil will perform on the court together and whether they will be able to come out on top against the other top doubles teams in the field.
