Djokovic, Nadal, and Zverev will forego the two significant ATP events from the 500 series that are scheduled for the week prior to the Paris Masters.
Before the ATP Finals, where the season comes to an end, there are only a select few events that can award you significant points. The two ATP 500 events in Basel and Vienna are part of that and the Paris Masters is the final big event of the season before the ATP Finals.
Generally, most players play both weeks but this year some noticeable names will be missing. Alexander Zverev did not enter Basel nor Vienna and that's hardly a surprise as he practically declared that he won't be playing this year anymore due to a setback in his recovery process.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic won't play either at those events and that's a bit more fascinating. The only players in the top 38 who haven't signed up for any of those tournaments are those three, and it appears that both Djokovic and Nadal will concentrate on Paris.
It's far more crucial for Djokovic, whose participation in Turin hasn't been confirmed yet because he needs to score more points to qualify. Since he is the defending champion in Paris, winning there might be the key. It appears to be Djokovic's main concern.
