Daniil Medvedev is on a quest of winning his first ATP title of the season and it may happen at the 2023 Rotterdam Open, where he's the sixth-seeded.

After an injury and surgery that he had to go through in 2022, the former world no. 1 dropped out of the Top 10, and now, Medvedev fights his way back to the top. He played in the semifinals in Adelaide and lost in the third round at the Australian Open, and the 2023 Rotterdam Open is only his third event of the season.

In the first round, the Russian defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in three sets, and he faced another tricky opponent in the second round as he took on home player Botic van de Zandschulp.

From start to finish, Medvedev controlled the match and never allowed his opponent to get into the rhythm. He faced two break points in the first set, but his opponent couldn't break his serve. On the other hand, Medvedev used two out of nine chances that he had, and won the first set comfortably 6-2.

In the second set, the world no. 11 faced two more break points, as his opponent had four chances to take his serve. But once again, he couldn't do it and after Medvedev used two of his seven attempts, he won the match 6-2, 6-2 in just an hour and 25 minutes.

In the quarterfinals, he will play against Felix Auger-Aliassime, who defeated Gregoire Barrere earlier today.
