Nick Kyrgios is not a prophet of any kind, but sometimes, he gets some things right, which should make Ben Shelton quite happy.
Nick Kyrgios is an interesting character on the ATP Tour, but you can't deny that he does know tennis. His career speaks for itself, and that's with the way he approaches it.
Imagine if he approached it seriously from the start, it could have been a multi-slam-winning career. In any case, Kyrgios once proved himself to be a pretty good predictor when it comes to tennis.
He predicted that Carlos Alcaraz would win the 2022 US Open before the event even began and obviously reminded everyone of that prediction when the Spaniard actually did it.
It was a pretty cool moment though it wasn't the most shocking prediction ever. It was a pretty good educated guess by the Australian. This newest one is a bit more daring but, again, far from shocking in any kind of way.
He posted on X that he dreamt of Ben Shelton winning a Grand Slam, possibly in 2024, which is a bit of a stretch but not entirely impossible. He made the US Open semi-final a few months ago and showed that he can be good for a deep run.
As Kyrgios said in his message, the American has a good forehand and a sensational serve. Sometimes, that's all you need, but we'll see. He's pretty young, and while he has gathered a lot of experience this year, there is still a pretty big gap between him and other players.
I had a dream last night that Shelton won a slam…. Is 2024 the year? Come to think of it, game is huge, serve is a rocket…. Reminds me of….
What do you think? Can Shelton win a Grand Slam in 2024? Let us know below.
