Carlos Alcaraz has quickly risen to become one of the best players in the world, and Nick Kyrgios has picked him to win the 2022 US Open.

Only one week remains until the 2022 US Open and most athletes have already arrived in New York to get ready. Among them are Alcaraz and Kyrgios, and the Australian appears to be very impressed with the Spaniard.

Alcaraz and Kyrgios have been some of the best players on the ATP Tour this year. Alcaraz won a couple of big events, including the Miami Open and the Madrid Open, as well as ATP 500 events in Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro.

It’s just been an amazing year for the Spaniard, and he’s certainly in the mix for the US Open. He’s not the only player who could potentially win it, but according to Kyrgios, he’s the most likely.

Kyrgios, who is now a Grand Slam finalist in his own right after making the Wimbledon final, picked Alcaraz from a lineup of players that also included Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jannik Sinner, and more.

The question was posed by Eurosport on social media, with Kyrgios responding and selecting Alcaraz, even ahead of himself, as he was listed among the players who could win the tournament, too.

It just shows the amount of respect the Spaniard has among his fellow players. It’s not by chance because he has truly been one of the best players this year, and his results back it up.

His peak level is certainly among the best in the world, and more importantly, his consistency is what makes him a prime candidate. He doesn’t win every match he plays, but he is competitive in most matches he plays, so he has all the necessary skills to win a major.

Another reason is that he generally does well on quicker hard courts like the one in New York. That's certainly one of the reasons why Kyrgios believes Alcaraz is the most likely winner.
