Jannik Sinner won't help Italian team at the 2022 Davis Cup Finals as he couldn't recover on time from an injury he suffered earlier this year.

The end of this season wasn't something that Jannik Sinner will want to remember for a long time. He lost his chances of competing at the ATP Finals and now, he also had to withdraw from the Davis Cup Finals. Only a few days ago, the Italian said that he will be working hard to make it on time for the team competition, when he stated:

"It’s the end of the 2022 season on tour for me. This year has been my most challenging yet, a lot of things to learn from with many ups and downs. Focusing on the positives and learning from my mistakes to keep moving forward always remains the same," Sinner wrote.

"Very grateful to my team and partners, thank you to them for their support through the year. For now I’m taking some time to rest before we have Davis Cup in a couple of weeks. Following on from that I am already excited for next year and to start the off season preparations with my team in the coming weeks. Ready to put in the work to start the year strong in Australia."

Now it's clear that the young Italian won't be able to make it on time as he announced his withdrawal on Sunday, stating:

"I am very sad to announce that I will not be able to participate in the Davis Cup final. I suffer from a finger injury from Paris. Unfortunately I have not recovered yet and therefore will not be able to join our team."

"It was a very difficult decision for me, playing for my country is always an honor and I hope to be back soon. Come on Italy!" he added.
