Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the best players under 22 years of age on the ATP Tour, but they won't compete at the 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan.

Their rankings also reflect it as the 19-year-old Spaniard is the World No. 1 player on the ATP Tour, and his two years older Italian rival is the World No. 12 in the ATP Rankings.

In the 2022 ATP Race to Milan, where the 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals take place, Alcaraz and Sinner are first and second-ranked players, but they have both already withdrawn from the event.

Sinner triumphed in Milan already back in 2019 when he defeated Alex de Minaur in the final. On the other hand, Alcaraz is the most recent champion as he won against Sebastian Korda last year.

Having a triumph from this year-end event already, both players withdrew from it and focused on the 2022 ATP Finals that will take place in Turin. While Alcaraz is sure to compete, Sinner can still qualify or be one of the alternates.

The Italian currently plays in Vienna, where he will start his journey against Cristian Garin. On the other hand, Alcaraz played his first-round match against Jack Draper in Basel, and after coming back from a set down, he was happy to beat the British player.

"At the beginning of the match, it was tough. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning. I wanted to play really aggressive on this court. For me, it's a bit slower than the other tournaments."
"But obviously, I had to handle that. I had to work on my problems and change my tactics a little bit in the second set. I knew that Jack is playing great. He is a really dangerous player, and I really had to be focused and, of course, never give up."
