John McEnroe closely followed the run of Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon and in an exclusive interview with tennis 365, the American spoke about Kyrgios.

Nick Kyrgios had the best singles result in his career at Wimbledon, his favourite event. He played some amazing tennis, got a bit lucky with the draw and reached the final, his maiden singles grand slam final. For McEnroe, it's just confirmation that when he truly commits to tennis even a little, great things are possible.

"We are all assessing the odds of whether he will commit to tennis now and while I have doubts that he will, I’d love to see him do it. Nick is probably the most talented player the game has seen in the last decade and I like him as a person. I coached him at the Laver Cup four times. He’s a good kid, but he just has to commit to tennis."

For McEnroe, it's rather simple. Kyrgios is a mixture of good and bad but for him, the good outweighs the bad. According to McEnroe, you can't be anything but captivated by what he does when he's on the court and that's a pretty rare thing in tennis. He's right, wherever Kyrgios goes, crowds flock, sometimes more than for the top names.

"Nick moves the needle in tennis and he could be great for the game incredible. You imagine seeing this guy doing what he’s doing on Centre Court at Wimbledon and you want to see more of it. Forget the stuff where he’s screaming and yelling because his shot-making is incredible. Okay hitting between your legs on pretty important points is not normal, but this guy pulls it off most of the time."

McEnroe once again reiterated his hope of the Aussie maverick to commit to tennis full-time. He can't help but be incredibly disappointed that the biggest talent in the past decade won't do it.

"Hopefully, he’ll decide that something is worth making the commitment for a couple of years. I’m not thinking that it’s likely, but hopefully, I’m wrong. I want to be wrong because Nick going all-in with tennis would be incredibly positive for our sport."
