Rafael Nadal explained Carlos Alcaraz as a different player who is very motivated to become the best in history.
Nadal never made the claim that he wanted to go down in history as the greatest player; instead, he took a calm and modest approach, saying that all he wanted was to perform his best. There is no reason to doubt his spirit of competition, and like many other greats, he exhibits a certain fixation.
He's certainly seeing a similar thing in Alcaraz who he called very different to some other Spanish players during a press conference in Buenos Aires ahead of his exhibition tour in South America.
"There has always been a generational change. It is true that we [Spain] had been missing [new players] in recent years, we were only Nadal, [Pablo] Carreno, [Roberto] Bautista, but now someone very special has arrived," said Nadal about Alcaraz describing him as a very different player:
"Carlos is a very different player, who aspires to be one of the best in history."
"He is young, he has started well, he has the potential to achieve great things and he is already achieving them. I'm happy to have someone very good in our country and that we [can] enjoy him for many years," concluded Nadal.
