Cameron Norrie scored his first win over Felix Auger-Aliassime in five attempts and he will play in the Los Cabos final.
It was an interesting 3-set match that saw Norrie best Auger for the first time in his career. The Brit has something special going on in Los Cabos as he has an 11-2 record at the event in his career with a trophy last year as well. By beating Felix, he'll get to contest for another trophy and on that, he said:
“Especially winning last year, you want to come out and win the title, but [I’ve just] taken it one match at a time. It was a tough task at the beginning of the tournament and I got through a couple of matches [Against] Felix today it was looking really tough, so I was really pleased with how I handled that today, especially after losing that second set.”
It wasn't an easy match against Auger-Aliassime but it was one that Norrie was able to win and considering a 0-4 record against him before, it means a lot:
“Every time he just gets me and plays better than me, so I really wanted to win that one more than usual. I started off great and then Felix found his level in the second set, so I feel really good to get through that one, especially with the last game when he had a couple of chances to break me. I managed to hold on tight and tough it out."
Up next the toughest challenge of them all, reignin world number one Daniil. On that, Norrie added:
“It feels great to be in the final, and especially to set up a meeting with the No. 1 in the world in Daniil.”
