Without a doubt, Novak Djokovic is one of the best players on the ATP Tour at the moment, but despite his incredible form, he's ranked 7th in the ATP Rankings.
That's due to variety of reasons, but mostly because of a low number of events played by the Serbian in 2022. However, Novak Djokovic won his 19th consecutive ATP match by beating Lorenzo Musetti at the 2022 Paris Masters and also proved that he deserves to finish in Top 8 of the ATP Rankings this year.
After the Serbian clinched his spot in the year-end event thanks to winning the Wimbledon title, many of his colleagues and fans claimed that it's unfair. Yet, thanks to point for reaching the semifinals in Paris, the 21-time Grand Slam champion would qualify for the 2022 ATP Finals also without the special rule.
In his quarterfinal match, Djokovic started really well against the young Italian, who previously defeated the third-seeded Casper Ruud. The first set lasted only 25 minutes as the Serbian managed to win all 6 games and take the first set.
It seemed that Musetti will be capable of fighting back in the second set after he got his first break point and also break of the match. However, Djokovic once again showed his masterclass to comfortably cruise to a 6-0, 6-3 win in an hour and 15 minutes.
He will meet winner of the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul in the semifinals as he secured a Top 8 finish in 2022 thanks to his quarterfinal win.
