Novak Djokovic is currently focusing on Wimbledon, and those thoughts might get occupied with the 'Calendar Slam' if he wins at Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic won both grand slams this year so far. He's likely to win Wimbledon simply because he's won it 7 times so far and his Roland Garros run proved that he's still the best against the current tennis landscape. That only gets amplified on grass because there will be only one player in London that has ever beaten him on a grass court before.
If he does win Wimbledon, he'll be only the US Open away from completing the calendar grand slam - something that hasn't been done since Rod Laver. He's not thinking about it right now but he's certainly capable of doing so according to his own coach Goran Ivanisevic.
Another former coach Boris Becker warned him against repeating the mistake he did the last time when he put too much pressure on himself which resulted in him completely crumbling in the final. Now, yet another former coach, one that knows him the best, Marian Vajda thinks that he won't make the same mistake as he did the last time in 2021, as he revealed to Puntodebreak.
This year, yes, there are no Olympic Games, so Novak will not make the same mistake twice.
Getting it done would be amazing for Djokovic as the triumph in New York would be Djokovic's 25th grand slam which would put him 3 ahead of Rafael Nadal. Completing the calendar grand slam would speak for itself and Mats Wilander thinks this might be his last chance to do it. According to Vajda, the US Open will be crucial but also very tough.
He has a great opportunity at Wimbledon, and the psychological aspect would decide in the United States. I think the competition will be tougher there; unlike on grass, [Carlos] Alcaraz will be a very dangerous defender on hard, [Alexander] Zverev is back, [Daniil] Medvedev will play better, Nole will have a lot of competition in New York.
