Andy Murray will be the only player in the draw of the 2023 Wimbledon that knows how it feels to beat the biggest favourite, Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic won multiple Wimbledon events in his career and he's chasing Roger Federer's record of 8 trophies at the event. He might equal that record this year as he's won seven so far but he's not the only one dreaming about winning the event.
One of them is Andy Murray who is currently pursuing a seeding spot at the event and he's looked good so far. He's unbeaten on the surface though he didn't really face a really great player yet. Even so, Murray recently admitted that he is one of the best players on the grass putting his name in the top 10 in terms of grass tennis.
It's not unreasonable to consider that and while he does dream of a long run at the event, it's unlikely according to fellow Brit and former player Tim Henman. If he wants to win the title, Murray might have to go through Novak Djokovic which is a huge challenge for anybody. Still, it's something that he's done before, he's beaten him at Wimbledon and on the grass.
In fact, Murray is the only player that will be in the Wimbledon draw that has ever beaten Novak Djokovic on grass. The Serbian is 113-19 on the surface in his career which is an impressive 85.61 % winning percentage.
Only a handful of players have beaten the Serbian on grass ever. They are: Murray, Del Potro, Berdych, Cilic, Querrey, Federer, Malisse, Haas, Safin, Nadal, Clement, Ancic, Grosjean, and Carraz.
If you're keeping up with tennis you'll quickly notice that all of those players except three (Murray, Nadal, and Cilic) have retired in the meantime. Nadal won't play in London as he's injured right now and Cilic withdrew from the Libema Open a few days ago only to announce his Wimbledon withdrawal days after that.
So that leaves Andy Murray as the only player that will play at this year's Wimbledon to have ever beaten Djokovic. The Serbian is always very confident but this tat should give him even more confidence.
