On Monday, Daniil Medvedev will lead the 2023 ATP Race for the first time this year.
His triumphant return to form has seen him rise through the ranks, following a brief dip outside the Top 10 earlier this year. Medvedev reached the world no. 1 spot last year, but this year, he left the elite ten last year's injury break and a minor loss of form.
However, the Russian, who is known for his unique play style, has bounced back in stunning fashion, winning three consecutive hard-court titles and securing a spot in his fifth consecutive ATP final against rising star Jannik Sinner at the 2023 Miami Open.
As Medvedev surges ahead, former 2023 ATP Race leader Novak Djokovic will slip to second place, while Carlos Alcaraz holding on to his third unless his Italian rival makes another winning step. The outcome of the 2023 Miami Open final between Medvedev and Sinner could shift the standings even further, with Sinner potentially overtaking Alcaraz if he clinches victory over Medvedev.
The Top 10 of the 2023 ATP Race currently features a diverse mix of talent, including Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Cameron Norrie, Karen Khachanov, and Frances Tiafoe. Notably absent from this elite group is Rafael Nadal, who recently dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time in 18 years and now ranks 338th in the 2023 ATP Race, having earned a mere 45 points this year.
In the ATP Rankings, Novak Djokovic is set to regain the top spot from Carlos Alcaraz, who failed to defend his Miami Open title. Medvedev's journey up the rankings could see him reach 4th place with a victory in the final, while Jannik Sinner aims for a triumphant return to the Top 10, with the possibility of achieving a new career-high 6th place should he emerge victorious.
