Andrey Rublev has been a steady member of the top 10 since 2020 but now he'll find himself out of it on Monday.
Andrey Rublev first entered the top 10 in October of 2019 and has since been a reasonably steady performer, winning a few competitions annually. He achieved the same feat this year by taking home consecutive championships in Marseille and Dubai and once in Belgrade later. Ever since then, he has mainly come up short losing in quarterfinals and finals.
He had a few impressive runs, but no championships or finals causing him to gradually lose points over the months. It's a direct consequence of the extremely high bar he set for himself last year. In the last couple of weeks, his ranking fell to number 8 but now it's going to drop below 10.
He earned a lot of points from playing in the final the previous year, and by falling to Fritz in round two, he will lose the majority of them. Rublev will drop outside the top 10 for the first time since 2020 as a result of Norrie's outstanding performance and ascent over the past couple of weeks. That is in spite of his 36-14 record for the season, which is good but far from his 55-24 record from the previous year.
