Andre Agassi Reveals Key Lesson That His Tennis Career Gave Him

Andre Agassi is a legendary tennis player, and in a recent talk, the American shared what tennis has taught him during his career.

At one point in time, the American was one of the most feared players on the ATP Tour. Agassi lived a fascinating life with plenty of tennis highlights. He is still active around the sport, which is great because he's one of those figures who will always be tied to tennis.

The sport gave him everything, including a chance to meet his wife, Steffi Graf, who is also a big tennis legend and played alongside him at the recent Pickleball Slam 2. The game also taught him a few things, which he spoke about in the AO Show Podcast. It taught him to be very present.

"I think tennis eventually teaches you, if you're open to learning, how to be incredibly present. People talk about everyone's superstitions so to speak, and they're not I don't think in most cases, some people might be superstitious."

It's an interesting take by Agassi on something that seems very odd to many people who are not familiar with tennis. It's a unique sport, as it doesn't offer time to really dwell on things that happened before because that can only cause further problems.

"In most cases, they are rituals that remind you how important it is to be locked in right now, and I think it's one of the last things you get great at, is how to forget what happened in the point before, and not worry about the problems that haven't even happened yet."

As an eight-time Grand Slam champion, Agassi also had to learn how to stay locked in, and staying present helps that. Some of the greatest ever have a very short memory, and that's part of it. Remaining focused on the task at hand while forgetting the previous points and rallies.
