The Hangzhou Open will hold its inaugural edition in 2024, and the entry list promises a lot of exciting action in the Chinese city.
Only recently, it was announced that the 2024 Hangzhou Open will be held, replacing the Zhuhai Championships in the calendar. In its inaugural edition, the ATP 250 tournament will be held from September 18th to 24th.
Already when announcing the tournament's creation, the event organizers had a few players committed to playing, to drive excitement among the fans, and the players that committed to competing will certainly make it an interesting tournament.
For the home crowd, the most exciting name will be Chinese player Zhizhen Zhang, who is among those that should compete at the tournament, and if there are no significant ranking changes, he could be also among the seeded players.
More generally, there will be plenty of electrical players to watch. Andrey Rublev is certainly one of them, and he will very likely be the top seed in the inaugural edition of the Hangzhou Open.
Fans will also get to watch two exciting youngsters under the retractable roof of the Hangzhou Olympics Sports Centre, as Holger Rune and Sebastian Korda both signed up to compete at the tournament.
There won't be lack of players that had success at majors either, as former Wimbledon finalist, Matteo Berrettini, is also among the players set to compete at the 2024 Hangzhou Open.
Being held during the week when the popular Laver Cup is played, some players were not available for the event organizers, as it was impossible for them to compete with an event of such magnitude, but they still did well in attracting a competitive field to start the Asian hard-court swing.
After the Hangzhou Open, the China Open in Beijing will run from September 26th to October 2nd, alongside the Japan Open in Tokyo, running from September 25th to October 1st. After that, it will be time for the popular Shanghai Masters from October 2nd to 13th.
In preparation for those events, also the likes of Karen Khachanov, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, and Luciano Darderi will make their way to the Chinese city to compete at the ATP 250 event.
There will be also plenty of young players, trying to challenge for the trophy, as the likes of Brandon Nakashima, Fabian Marozsan, and Alex Michelsen will play at the tournament. The full entry list for the 2024 Hangzhou Open can be seen below.
