The 2022 Gijon Open, which received a one-year license, will bring together players from October 10 through October 16 as the ATP Tour will visit Spain during this time.

A couple of ATP 500 tournaments will be followed a few lower-level competitions, with the 2022 Gijon Open featuring an intriguing field dominated by Spanish players. Albert Ramos-Vinolas, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Roberto Bautista Agut, and Pablo Carreno Busta should all compete in Gijon.

After reaching semifinals in Astana, Andrey Rublev will move to Spain where he is the top-seeded player and he will start his tournament in the second round against winner of the match between Ilya Ivashka and wild-card Feliciano Lopez.

Another wild-card holder is Martin Landaluce, who will start against the fifth-seeded Tommy Paul. Dominic Thiem used his protected ranking to enter the event and he will play against experienced Joao Sousa in his first round match.

Andy Murray also received a wild-card for the 2022 Gijon Open but the draw was not nice to the Scot. Former world no. 1 will play against the sixth-seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who is one of the home players in the draw.

Roberto Bautista Agut is the third-seeded and in the second round he can meet compatriot Jaume Munar or Sebastian Korda. The second-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta will take on Benjamin Bonzi or Thiago Monteiro in his second-round match.
