The prize money and points distribution for the 2022 US Open, the fourth Grand Slam of the year, which runs from August 29 through September 11 have already been revealed.
At the US Open last year, Daniil Medvedev earned his first Grand Slam title, which he will now try to defend. Emma Raducanu will defend her championship and, more importantly, the 2000 points that are given to the competition's winner.
Both champions will typically receive 2000 points, and in 2022, the winner will receive $2,600,000 in prize money. This year's US Open will offer participants a record-breaking total of more than $60 million in prize money.
While the WTA finalist will receive 1300 points and the ATP finalist 1200 points, both will receive $1,3 million in prize money. Players will receive $80,000 in addition to 10 points toward their rankings for losing in the opening round of the competition.
Players that advance to the second round receive 45 points (ATP) or 70 points (WTA), respectively, and $121,000, since the points and prize money grow with each round. In the third round, the player receives a check for $188,000 along with 90 ATP points or 130 WTA points.
Also doubles specialists will get a solid part of the overall prize money distribution as the winning team will get $688,000. Finalists will get exactly half of that ($344,000) and semifinalists will get a half of what are the finalists awarded ($172,000).
