Stefanos Tsitsipas' mother, Julia Apostoli, has broken her silence to share her brutal judgment of her son's reunion with girlfriend Paula Badosa.
Tsitsipas and Badosa broke up last month but rekindled their love affair just weeks after the Spaniard confessed on social media that they "amicably" decided to part ways.
The pair were spotted walking intimately in the streets of Monaco and drove off together in a luxurious car, which was an obvious hint that they had reunited.
It was Tsitsipas who was first to confirm that the pair had reconciled, having initially decided to take a break from the relationship to get his professional life together.
Tsitsipas certainly enjoyed a purple path on the ATP Tour during that time, winning his third Monte Carlo Masters and finishing runner-up in Barcelona.
But not everyone was happy that he reunited with Badosa. Chief among them was his own mother, Julia, who, as the Daily Mail quoted, was a staunch critic of the WTA star.
"A girl that is not a super confident person. She needs big support, to learn more things, experience life. The choice has been made. Nobody asked my opinion."
It's not the first time that Tsitsipas has ruffled his parents' feathers. At the 2020 ATP Cup, he took a swipe at his racket courtside out of frustration and accidentally hurt his father's arm.
At the 2023 Italian Open, he instructed his mother to leave the stadium during a match against Daniil Medvedev because she was speaking in Russian at the sit-down, which is Medvedev's mother tongue.
Several tennis fans have frowned upon the Greek star's behavior towards his parents, and he has not yet commented on his mother's recent claims. But Badosa has reaffirmed her commitment to the relationship, stating that the pair "did not like" that almost every detail was publicized.
Badosa and Tsitsipas were expected to team up in mixed doubles at the 2024 French Open but withdrew before their first match.
