'Skai's Mommy' Svitolina Thrashes Kasatkina To Advance In Washington

Elina Svitolina continues to play sensational tennis smashing Daria Kasatkina in two simple sets to continue her Citi Open run as Skai's Mommy.

Elina Svitolina is feeling like a superwoman right now as the Ukrainian has been playing some amazing tennis recently. Some might say it's because she has that mommy strength right now, and that's how she was actually introduced before the match - as Skai's Mommy. In the past few weeks, she's probably been a Top 5 player on the WTA Tour, and even switching surfaces isn't stopping her.

The Ukrainian started off her Washington campaign with a very good win over Victoria Azarenka, beating her for the second time in a couple of weeks. They played at Wimbledon; there wasn't any handshake, and Svitolina won. The same thing happened in Washington, and now we have another rerun in the second round.

Svitolina bested Kasatkina at Roland Garros not too long ago, they also didn't shake hands and the same thing happened now in Washington. No handshake, and Svitolina won. It's a pretty interesting coincidence for the Ukranian, who once again only needed two sets, just like in Paris.

The first one wasn't a perfect one, as Kasatkina had plenty of chances. The Russian had six break points in total, but she didn't convert a single one, and that's going to be a problem against any player, let alone against this Svitolina.

The Ukrainian did most of her damage on the second serve of Kasatkina, who won only two of 11 points on it in the opening set. Using two of three break points she created, Svitolina won the opening set 6-2. The second set was an even more impressive beatdown as she once again dominated on the second serve of Daria.

The Ukrainian won more than 50 % of those points and that proved enough to cruise in the second set as well. The final score was 6-2, 6-2 as she moves on to face either Jessica Pegula or Peyton Stearns.
