Emma Raducanu is helping young tennis players not just once, but twice with one tennis lesson at a time.
The 2021 US Open champion is putting her fame and skills to use by offering online tennis lessons on the popular platform AirWayz. One tennis lesson with Raducanu costs $2,000, and as confirmed to Tennis Infinity in communication with the platform's representatives, she donates 100% of her proceeds.
The proceeds from Raducanu's instruction offered on AirWayz to programs offered by the LTA Foundation, connecting youth to the sport of tennis. This innovative approach combines the world of technology and sports in a way that benefits the next generation of tennis players.
The platform offers subscribers access to instruction and motivational content from some of the world's top athletes. Besides Raducanu, other contributors include 2022 US Open golf champion Matthew Fitzpatrick, Premier League/Manchester City star Jack Grealish, and women's World Cup soccer champion Alex Morgan, amongst others.
For a fee of $2,000, subscribers to Raducanu's channel on AirWayz receive individual coaching. In addition, for a subscription fee of just $5, they can get an insider's look into her daily life and routine.
While Raducanu is exploring these new off-court enterprises, her on-court experiences have been more turbulent. In the 2023 season, she dropped out of the Top 100 on the WTA Tour after being forced to withdraw from multiple events due to injuries.
Eventually, she underwent three separate surgeries on her wrists and ankle, ruling her out of the 2023 Roland Garros and the season's Wimbledon. Amidst this physical strain, she also experienced a coaching shake-up, with a split from her former coach Sebastian Sachs, marking her sixth coach change in just two years.
But Raducanu's off-court activities show that even though she's not able to inspire others with her tennis, she's certainly doing that with her actions. The partnership with AirWayz and her donation of the proceeds is the clear proof of that.
