Serena Williams hints at possible future in tennis despite retirement

During her appearance on the Today show, Serena Williams admitted that she hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to tennis.

Williams announced her retirement from tennis following this year's US Open in a column for Vogue Magazine, though she recently hinted that she might play again. Although it's unlikely to occur, Williams provided a realistic response when questioned about it.

"You never know. I’ve learned in my career, never say never."

Williams confirmed that walking away from tennis is really hard for her because she genuinely enjoys it as her job.

"I love what I do, there’s nothing about me not loving my job. I love it. I’ve been playing it my whole entire life. It’s very emotional to evolve into something new." said Williams while adding that she hates being in this position:

"There is no happiness in this topic for me. I know it’s not the usual thing to say, but I feel a great deal of pain. It’s the hardest thing that I could ever imagine. I hate it. I hate that I have to be at this crossroads."
