It seems that Bianca Andreescu has an ace up her sleeve that no one knows about as she never lost a professional tennis match against a left handed player.

Before the 2022 Guadalajara Open started, the 22-years-old Canadian has a very solid record of 9-0 against left handed players, but she didn't know that the first two players that she will face at the event will be 'lefties'. Therefore, Bianca Andreescu got another chance to prove her craft against left handed players and she did exactly that.

It all started back in 2019 when the Canadian defeated Jil Teichmann and Mihaela Buzarnescu in Acapulco. Then, Andreescu defeated Angelique Kerber back-to-back in Indian Wells and Miami before finishing the year with win over Taylor Townsend at the US Open.

Then, the Canadian missed out on the whole 2020 season, but in her first match after 15 month pause, she played a left handed player once again and won again (Mihaela Buzarnescu).

In 2022, Andreescu added five more victories. First, she defeated Ysaline Bonaventure. Then, she added wins against Martina Trevisan and Beatriz Haddad Maia before travelling to Mexico.

At the 2022 Guadalajara Open, she faced a player that started her streak in the first match and defeated her once again. Andreescu won 6-2, 6-4 against Jil Teichmann and in the second round, she faced Petra Kvitova for the first time in her career.

Despite losing the first set, the 2019 US Open champion won the match 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 to book her spot in the third round of the event. Moreover, she recorded her 11th win over a left handed player and after the match, she said:

"The first set kind of just went past me," Andreescu said after her win. "[Kvitova] was hitting some very big shots, and her serve was very effective, and I felt like my emotions got the better of me as well towards the end of the first set. But I bounced back."

"I just wanted to make her play as much as I could, use my serve to my advantage, and just put pressure on her return, and I think I did that really well. And just fighting, competing really well."
